Food and Drinks for Galentines Day

Need a day to show your best girl friends how much you care? February 13th, otherwise known as Galentine’s Day, was introduced by Parks and Rec’s hilarious main character Leslie Knope. Galentine’s Day is the perfect time to have some great girl time with your friends and show them how much you appreciate them. If you’re planning a Galentine’s Day event in your home, here are a couple drinks and yummy meal options to become one with Leslie Knope and get the party started right.

If you’re choosing to have your get together during the day like Knope, some heart shaped pancakes or waffles would really bring the love to your brunch. They’re fairly easy to make and super yummy. Let your gals choose their own toppings for their waffles or pancakes with a unique and creative waffle bar. Provide some yummy choices like fruits, syrups, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. Don’t forget the chocolate chips!

For lunch, having a great appetizer platter will spark the conversation. Include ingredients like sliced meats, nuts, olives, and dried fruits. A cheese platter will surely be a great pairing to the rest of your meal, especially your choice of alcohol.

What brings gal pals together better than mimosas? Make the party BYOC (Bring Your Own Champagne), and give your guests an array of fruit juices to make the mimosa of their dreams. Some favorites that you may not have thought of are pineapple juice or cranberry juice. But, you can’t go wrong with orange. Let your guests choose their own destiny, but make sure that someone is there to cap drinks when they see fit. We all love indulging during this time of year, but don’t let people indulge too hard. There’s still more to love on Galentine’s Day!

If you’d rather go savory than sweet with the drinks, why not try bloody marys? There are only a couple ingredients that go into a bloody mary, such as tomato juice, vodka, and Tabasco sauce to add a little bit of much-needed spice. The drink would go absolutely perfect with any dinner or lunch meals, and it can set the stage for some perfect ex-boyfriend jokes. It’s a win-win!

You can’t have a Galentine’s Day without having some amazing desserts. Brownies are a lovely choice, and you can drizzle them with whatever toppings you and your friends desire. Whether they’re chocolate, peanut butter or cinnamon, they’re sure to be a hit amongst your party-goers. Just make sure to take a survey of peanut allergies before you decide to put your all into a dessert.

Strawberry is the ingredient to stick to if you’re looking to keep a pink and white theme. Strawberry can go perfect in any dessert from cupcakes to milkshakes, and they’ll surely keep the love in the air during your Galentine’s Day soiree.

Whether you’re a Parks and Rec fan who just wants to bring more Leslie Knope into the world or looking for yet another way to spread the love to the people that you are crazy about the most, Galentine’s Day is a holiday that everyone should celebrate. Along with good friends and good music, good food is a key component to making your Galentine’s Day party one to remember. So, add this holiday to your calendar, and plan your next Galentine’s Day party with a smile.
